Automatic Exporter¶
The Automatic Exporter extension provides a seamless way to export your inventory data in CSV or XML format. Whether you need to integrate with third-party platforms, maintain offline records, or automate data transfers, this extension gives you complete control over your exports.
You can choose to save the exported file locally on your server or transfer it remotely via FTP. Additionally, the extension allows you to automate the export process by scheduling it with your server's cron jobs, ensuring that your inventory data stays up to date without manual intervention.
This documentation walks you through setup, configuration, and best practices to ensure smooth and efficient exports from your DMS.
Requirements¶
| Requirement | Value |
|---|---|
| DMS version | 1.0.1 or newer |
| License | Standard or higher |
| Server | Ability to add a cron job (hosting panel, crontab, or WP-CLI) |
How it works¶
- You build an export in DMS → Import/Export as usual — columns, filters, format, and delivery method (local file or FTP) are all configured there.
- At the Export Type step you mark the export as Automatic and give it a secret key.
- DMS generates a command for that export.
- You paste that command into your cron scheduler. Each time it runs, DMS regenerates the file using the settings already saved on the export and delivers it to the configured destination.
Because the column mapping and destination live on the export itself, a scheduled run behaves exactly like pressing Start Export manually — nothing to re-configure.
Next steps¶
- Settings — enable automatic exporting and choose a secret key.
- Scheduling the Export — the cron command and its variants.
- Troubleshooting — what to check when a scheduled run does nothing.
