Favorites¶
The Favorites extension allows visitors to save vehicles they're interested in for quick and easy access later. With a single click, users can add listings to their personal collection, making it simple to compare options, revisit vehicles, and continue their browsing experience without starting over.
Designed to improve user engagement and lead conversion, the Favorites extension keeps potential buyers connected to the inventory they care about most. Whether they're narrowing down choices or planning a future purchase, saved vehicles remain easily accessible throughout their journey.
On the frontend, saved items can be presented as a branded experience, such as a "Garage," giving your website a more personalized and interactive feel while maintaining a clear and intuitive workflow behind the scenes.
Requirements¶
| Requirement | Value |
|---|---|
| DMS version | 1.0.0 or newer |
| License | Starter or higher |
| Page builder | Elementor, for placing the button element |
How it works¶
The extension adds three pieces to your site:
- A Favorites Button you place on listing templates, so visitors can save a listing from the VDP or search results.
- A flyout sidebar listing everything the visitor has saved, opened from a floating trigger button.
- An optional Compare button in that sidebar, sending saved listing IDs to a comparison page.
The sidebar and trigger button are output automatically wherever the button element is present — you never place them by hand.
Saved listings are per-browser
Favorites are stored in the visitor's own browser (localStorage), not against a user account. Someone who saves listings on their phone won't see them on their laptop, and clearing browser data clears the list. No login is required, and nothing is written to your database.
Next steps¶
- Settings — the Favorites tab on your listing type.
- Favorites Button Element — placing and styling the button.
- Troubleshooting — button missing, sidebar empty, compare not working.
