Troubleshooting

Prices are still visible when signed out

  1. Check you're actually signed out. Testing in the same browser you administer the site in is the usual cause. Use a private window.
  2. Check the setting has text in it. With Logged Out Pricing Text empty there's nothing to substitute.
  3. Clear your page cache. A cached copy of a page generated while signed in will serve real prices to everyone. Most caching plugins bypass the cache for logged-in users but happily cache the signed-out version — if that version was built wrong, it persists until purged.
  4. Confirm the extension is active in DMS → Extensions, and that your license is Starter or higher.

The strike-through "was" price still shows

Only the main price is replaced. An original price displayed alongside it — the crossed-out figure on a discounted listing — is still visible to signed-out visitors.

If that defeats the purpose for you, either don't set original prices on listings, or remove that element from your listing template.

A price appears somewhere unexpected

The substitution applies to prices DMS renders. It doesn't reach into:

  • Exports and feeds, which read the stored value.
  • Third-party output such as structured data, marketplace feeds, or a theme that reads the price meta directly.

If your goal is keeping prices off the public internet entirely rather than just off the page, check those separately — a listing's real price can still be sitting in a feed or in page metadata.

Stock alert emails show the replacement text instead of a price

Stock alert emails are generated by a scheduled task, and no one is signed in during a scheduled task — so the price in the email is replaced with your text, which reads oddly in a notification someone signed up for.

If you send stock alerts, either word the replacement text so it still makes sense in an email, or weigh whether hiding prices is worth that trade-off.

Prices show for someone who shouldn't see them

The check is whether a visitor is signed in at all — not what role they hold. Any account, including a subscriber someone self-registered, sees real pricing.

For role-based pricing you'd need something that distinguishes roles; this extension doesn't.

The replacement text breaks the layout

It renders in the same place the price did, so a long message in a narrow search-result card can wrap and change the card's height.

Keep it short, or style it in the editor to match your price element's size and weight so the layout holds.

The setting tab isn't there

Confirm the extension is active in DMS → Extensions and that your license is Starter or higher. The tab appears in Dealer.ms → Settings alongside the other global settings tabs.
