SEO Schema¶
The SEO Schema extension adds structured data to your site, describing your dealership and your inventory in the format search engines read. It's what allows a listing to appear in search results with its price, availability, and condition attached rather than as a plain blue link.
Structured data is invisible to visitors. It's emitted in the page source as JSON-LD and consumed by Google, Bing, and other crawlers.
Requirements¶
| Requirement | Value |
|---|---|
| DMS version | 1.0.0 or newer |
| License | Starter or higher |
| Inventory data | Categories holding your year, make, model, VIN and similar values |
What it outputs¶
Four blocks of structured data, emitted in the page <head>:
| Schema | Appears on | Describes |
|---|---|---|
| LocalBusiness | Every page | Your dealership — name, address, phone, hours, logo. Multiple locations become departments. |
| Organization | Every page | Your business as an organisation, linked to your site URL. |
| Vehicle / Product | Listing detail pages | The vehicle — year, make, model, VIN, body type, fuel, condition, price, availability. |
| VideoObject | Listing detail pages with a video | The listing's video, so it can appear as a video result. |
A fifth block, ItemList, is added wherever the listings scroller element appears, describing each vehicle in the carousel.
How it works¶
The extension doesn't invent data. It reads what you already store:
- You describe your dealership once, under global settings — see Dealership Locations.
- You tell it which of your listing categories hold the year, make, model, VIN and so on — see Listing Schema.
- Every listing page then emits structured data built from that listing's own values.
That mapping step is the important one. DMS lets you name categories anything you like, so the extension can't guess which one holds the VIN — you point it at each.
Verify with Google's tool
After setting up, run a listing URL through Google's Rich Results Test. It shows exactly what was detected and flags missing recommended fields — far quicker than reading page source.
Next steps¶
- Dealership Locations — your business details, one or many locations.
- Listing Schema — mapping your categories to vehicle fields.
- Developer Reference — filters for customising the output.
- Troubleshooting — missing fields, validation warnings.
