Contact Form 7

The Contact Form 7 extension seamlessly integrates your inventory with the Contact Form 7 plugin, allowing you to pass custom listing data into outgoing emails. With this extension, you can use custom tags to dynamically include details such as vehicle title, price, VIN, and other key attributes in your contact forms. This makes it easy for potential buyers to inquire about specific vehicles while ensuring that dealers receive all relevant listing information in their emails.

This documentation will walk you through setup, configuration, and best practices to maximize the effectiveness of this integration.

Requirements

Requirement Value
DMS version 1.0.0 or newer
License Starter or higher
Contact Form 7 The Contact Form 7 plugin, active

There is no settings screen. Once both plugins are active, the DMS tags become available inside Contact Form 7's own form editor.

How it works

  1. A visitor opens a form on a vehicle detail page. DMS quietly attaches that listing's ID to the form.
  2. They fill it in and submit. Contact Form 7 handles the submission as it always does.
  3. Before the email goes out, DMS swaps every listing tag in the mail template for that vehicle's real values.

The result: the buyer fills in a normal contact form, and the dealer receives an email that names the exact vehicle, its price, and a link to it.

Listing data is attached on vehicle detail pages only

The listing ID is added to forms on a VDP. A form on a general contact page, a search results page, or a blog post has no vehicle in context, so listing tags are left as-is in the outgoing mail.

Keep a separate, tag-free form for your general contact page, and use the tagged form only in listing templates.
