Extensions

Extensions are optional add-ons that bolt extra features onto DMS. You manage them at Dealer.ms > Extensions - install, activate, deactivate, and update them all from one screen.

Managing extensions

From Dealer.ms > Extensions you can:

  • Install an available extension.
  • Activate an installed extension to switch its features on.
  • Deactivate one to turn it off without removing it.
  • Update an extension when a new version is available.

Each extension is independent - activating or deactivating one doesn't affect the others or your core DMS data.

Updates

When an extension has an update, DMS flags it in two places:

  • A number badge on the Dealer.ms menu.
  • An Updates card at the top of your Dashboard, and an update button on the Extensions page.

Keeping extensions up to date keeps them compatible with your DMS version - update them when prompted.

Extensions and your license

Extensions are tied to your DMS license level. Each one requires a certain plan to run.

License mismatch auto-deactivates

If your license doesn't cover an extension, DMS will automatically deactivate it and show a notice naming which one. To use it again, upgrade your plan on Billing & Usage, then reactivate the extension.

Where extension features show up

An active extension can add its own settings, menu items, dashboard cards, and options throughout DMS - always under the Dealer.ms menu hierarchy, so everything stays in one place. Check the extension's own documentation for what it adds and where.
